SO, back in the 90s a book I wrote, “The Devil You Say”, was published by Avon as the start of a comic fantasy series.  It was a P.G. Wodehouse pastiche, more specifically, the Bertie/Jeeves stories.  The leads are Aubrey Arbuthnot, a perennially penniless English psychic detective, and his stoic manservant, Hornchurch.  The story involved a ( Read more... )

Oh that is too bad the editor being fired stopped you as well :((( Please please please continue it for the sake of your fans! I hope you get some paper books out too! <3

It's pretty crazy when life changes you into a slash fan aye?! That would be so neat if people would write slash fiction about your characters - especially because you ship it yourself <3<3

I used to announce that as a "real" writer I would be disgusted if people wrote slash about Aubrey and Hornchurch. Have to take that back!

How cool is this? You are amazing to have written and published these books -- and I'm so intrigued! I'm also tickled by the notion that fandom gave you a slashy perspective on your own work! Hee!

Thank you! I've published several books, including a collection of my stage work, "Cervix With A Smile" and a self-published historical novel, "The Abortionist's Daughter". Plus I've been in several anthologies.

I gotta confess, I am really not seeing the problem here. :-D

Like, of course you're shipping your own characters? Why on earth wouldn't you? I'd bet a fair number of your readers already were...

Because I wasn't, and it's already a funny ha-ha relationship and I can't have any more emotional depth it's wrong for the story OH DEAR GOD WHY DID I EVER START READING SLASH?

It's one thing to write fanfic where the characters are shipping each guy. But these guys are heterosexual, for pete's sake.

Other people have to write the fanfiction.

Maybe they're heteroflexible, and didn't quite realize that until rather late.

Write all the fic you want. Post it under a sock. We won't tell. :-D
