Actually, I posted a rant of fanficrants about feeling entitled and being immature. Many answers said that readers put Story Alerts on stories because it's easier to find them than putting them on an endless list of favorites. This was seconded by several responders.
I must admit I winced when I read your rant on ff.rants - I figured you were going to be torn apart in the comments - that was positively restrained for that comm.
My favourite 'review' on ff.net started off with this is the stupidest shit i ever fucking read and went downhill from there :)
Yeah, I felt that it was misunderstood...I was trying to say how immature I was for expecting reviews, and blaming myself for feeling entitled but it came out very differently. Then I discovered I couldn't rewrite it. I have read the comm rules and was actually surprised it didn't get a negative mod tag.
While I was writing TP&TP, I got a lot of reviews here, for example, "stop writing this endless stream of shit." :)
At least you know they read it. I always give those people credit for effort. Maybe the person learnt different grammar rules to you. I know I always get confused about when to use "blah blah" and when to use 'blah'. But yes, it would probably have been better as a PM and what you wrote made perfect sense.
I think the story alert thing must be something to do with how the review system is set up, so people either accidentally tick all the boxes or tick "follow" instead of "favourite". That's the only thing I can think of.
PS: Everyone gets a bad review on FF.net every now and then. I once had someone say my grammar was terrible. They had RANDOMLY capitalised WORDS IN their REVIEW.
Oh, yes, I've gotten my share of bad reviews (sometimes accused of being a troll--bzuh?). Most of the bad reviews have been here. After being in show business I have a hide like a rhino. I get all bitchy and immature when people DON'T pay attention to my work. If you knew me longer a number of people could attest to that!
It's amusing how consistently people bear out the rule that if you make an internet comment complaining about someone else's spelling, grammar, or punctuation, you'll make at least one such error of your own in the comment.
But I have to say that this person took it a bit over the top . . .

Why DO readers on ff.net put story alerts on completed stories? I have been wondering about this for a long time.
