I took this with me on a recent trip and was really excited to see how well Elisa made use of her showbusiness background and interest in historical New York in writing this novel.

It's very much a coming-of-age story in which disillusioning events force a sheltered young woman to grow up in a hurry, so you may not find yourself admiring the heroine right away, but she eventually develops into someone worth rooting for.
