Is Anyone Else Having An Impossible Time With LJ?

I am really going crazy.

1)  The pasting from Word...LJ used to ask if you wanted to clean it, and then put it in the exact format you wrote in (well, almost).  No, no cleaning, and it is more or less a block of undifferentiated text that I have to work downwards and upwards to separate the paras.  Then it wouldn't post!  I kept getting an error

I tried a couple of tests on my journal. Normally, I use html. It worked fine. On the RT tab, I copied text and added an LJ cut. The cut's text showed up, but didn't hide anything. Sorry, that's all I got.

I have since the end of August started to write each post as a text only file, inserting all the html commands by hand, and then cutting and pasting with no changes. If I need to make changes, I just edit the .txt file, then paste it all in again.
I also add the tags after posting, because even adding tags sometimes screws up the formatting.
Luckily, html isn't conceptually very different from the text editor I usually use.
You're not alone, but you may have to find your own solution to the problem.

OT I hate Word (and Excel and most of all Powerpoint) and never use any of them.

I also paste into the html tab now and then add any formatting by hand, either by using html commands or by switching into the rich text tab and using the LJ buttons. The only time I ever paste into the rich text tab is when I'm copying an entry from house_md_news and then replacing the text of the entries with those of today's posts.

Do you have a problem with flickering when you try to post a link elsewhere?

I have a lot of the same problems, especially the wall of text and editing LJ cuts.

I switched over to using the HTML tab when they stuffed it all up a few months ago (thanks to this excellent tutorial). In the tutorial it covers how to find and replace in Office to preserve formatting of italics etc when pasting into HTML tab.

I did have a firefox add on that was apparently borking up live journal for me (when I went to edit the post would just disappear) so you could try using a different browser and see if that helps.

Thank you! I generally use IE, and Firefox for anything video or musical. I had the problem of disappearing posts when I first started with house_md_news and pasted the previews into my own journal. ONE CHANGE and the whole thing--poof!
