My Other Self Rants In Public

May 25, 2011 10:33

I was so infuriated by some of the issues raised in 7x23 that I wrote an entry in my blog,  "Does the House Season 7 finale endorse domestic violence?"

The Mad Fashionista is not me.  She is an alter ego who doesn't swear, uses stylized language, and ( Read more... )

It's hard to ignore the misogyny on the show anymore. It's disgusting. I'm deeply ashamed that I keep watching due to my fixation on the House-Wilson relationship.

The show needs to die.

Coming next season: House punishes all women for being whores who hurt him by raping and torturing the prostitutes he hires before killing and dumping them in the woods; Wilson drives the van House transports the bodies in and lectures House about his excessive Vicodin use and repressed anger. Mondays at 9 pm eastern/6 pm Pacific. only on Fox!

You're evil. Funny but evil. TPTB should hire you.

...and I meant that in nicest way.

I'm heartbroken that they did this to House's character. I don't even know how I can continue to write House fanfic, I am so disgusted by the character. The only way I can do it, I think, is to ignore season 7, especially the season finale. After having so much hope after watching the last House-Wilson scene of ep 7x22 I can not begin to describe how disgusted and nauseated I am with what happened in 7x23. If I didn't love the character House used to be so much I would be complete done with the show. I don't know if I'll be able to watch the season premiere next fall, at least, not before I hear comments and reviews from others first. If I wasn't a decent, peaceful person I would take DS around the back of the barn and take a razor strap to his ass if he thinks violent revenge is worthy of laughing about in interviews!

I commented at the blog you linked to. I was furious with all the comments that justified what House (DS) did!

I am heartbroken as well. I'm glad to have the chain fic challenge going because otherwise I don't think that I could write anything after this fiasco. I was really looking forward to a summer playing with all of my new friends in the fandom, and now I don't know how I'll be able to stay emotionally invested in the show.

The only way I'll be able to do it is to ignore most of season 7 especially 7x23. Otherwise I have no interest in being a fan of a show about a psychopath (that's why I won't watch Dexter either).

I actually hadn't even thought about that aspect before. As Cameron once told us, House is a misanthrope, not a misogynist. However there was obviously a very ugly dynamic to scene at the hospital. It reminded me A LOT of the Glee scene where Will got similarly violent with Terri. Some people were screaming domestic abuse and others were defending will because of Terri "heinous" actions.

Did you happen to see that scene what was your take if you did.

(I can't remember if you're a Glee-watcher or not.)

An occasional push may well be a sign, but it does not imho a domestic abuse make. I am appalled by people who say "since we can believe that House could push Cuddy aside, hence we can also believe he would ram a car into her living room". You're free to believe either, but finding an implication is wrong imho.

I think I maybe got what Visitkarte had to say (ETA I thought she was German but she's Swiss), and she has a point where imho she's right, and one where (still imho) she's wrong ( ... )
