I think it has more to do with the fact that poison requires stealth or sudden movements in order to work. Clairvoyance would avert either, simply by being able to peer into another's mind.

That could be one reason. Even without mind reading, there's seeing the future and telekinesis to stop them. [As noted earlier.]

And something like a Poison-type relies on surprise, which means it'd probably get worked up if another creature invaded its mind.

Leaving them off guard in battle long enough to be attacked.

No kiddin'. Like fightin' types bein' weak to Flying types. Ain't that the weirdest junk?

And I got no idea about Psychic types bein' strong against Poison. I mean, if ya poisoned a guy wouldn't that make it real hard to think?

I guess trying to hit a flying bird would be rather hard in that case, right?

[They can fly out of your reach!] If you're psychic, wouldn't you know they're going to poison you because of mind reading?

Oh, yeah. I mean, I ain't never tried to punch a bird before or nothin', but I guess that makes sense.

Hey, that's a good point, dude. But a psychic can't read everybody's mind at once, can they? I mean, how would they know who was gonna poison 'em?

Um...by seeing the future or use clairvoyance? They sometime do get hit, but they're forewarned about it enough to avoid most of the damage?

A lot of them do make sense in a way. It gets even more complicated when they have two.

Yeah. For some, they can still get hit hard, but there should type combos that make it hard to hit weaknesses.

Which ones are you thinking?

Like... [Thinking, thinking...Oh!] Like Kingdra. They're Water and Dragon type. Their typing make them only weak against Dragon types.

[ and this one found himself in the gym stands. he was taking notes on atsuro's apparent flaws and strengths when it came to pokemon battling... but he figures that saying any of that was kind of useless to say (that's his excuse and he's sticking to it). so, for the time being, he'll just descend to atsuro's level when the battle's over, hands in the sleeve of his haori. ]

How very like you to ask questions like that, Atsuro.

[Atsuro's been using his weaker Pokemon in the battle, with the exception of his Hoothoot (who's too low leveled) and Clefairy (not that fond of battling). There's been a number of status effect inducing moves in battle to debilitate Whitney's team, before attacking.]

Some of the type match-ups make sense, but others require more thought. I'd like to hear what people think.

For what reason? [ and that's certainly down as one of atsuro's weaknesses in naoya's book. if he had stronger pokémon, he should be using them to crush his opponent completely--no waste of time that way. at least, that's what naoya would do. ] Aside from your constant curiosity.

[He believe they should have gym experience, even if they're stronger than Whitney's. Agena the Nidorina is walking next to Atsuro, as she's one of his deployed battlers just now, along with Makara the Dragonair.]

I'm still curious. How they think about it compared to my own ideas. [Pats Makara, since she's relatively taller than Agena, who enjoys it. You did good out there, girl.] And...

... Maybe psychic attacks does something to a Pokémon's defense to its own poison? [ He's actually been thinking about this from time to time, trying to apply logic to it. ]

Psychic types can use telekinesis, so maybe that something is...manipulating their immune system?

[ A nod. ] Thus the extra damage. Sounds like a reasonable explanation.

Are there any other combinations you're curious about?
