Makes me think of Lincoln and the whole Union-Confederacy thing during the Civil War. The Union did not want to let the South go. I think this is sort of like that.
*Why was it so important to Obi-Wan that he and Anakin follow the Council’s instructions regarding Padme, to the letter?
Because that’s Obi-Wan. He’s a rule follower. What the Council says, he does. And EXACTLY when the Council says. One of the points of friction between him and Anakin is that Anakin feels Obi-Wan is too literal about the rules, while Obi-Wan feels that Anakin is too…disrespectful of them.
*The more I look at Anakin and Obi-Wan’s interactions in AOTC, the more I realize how unsuited they were for a master/padawan relationship. Anakin would have been better off being trained by ( ... )

But . . . humans are animals. And in the STAR WARS saga, not all of the characters are humans - including high-ranking characters such as Yoda, Ki-Adi Mundi and Admiral Ackbar.
