Fic!

It's official. I'm an idiot. I bitched for days about the awful episode I gave myself for the Missing Scene Challenge. I finally cobbled something together and then when I went to make the challenge post? Realized I wrote for the wrong episode. So as a result, this sucky episode gets two missing scenes when it barely rates one. I'm sure overnighter's ( Read more... )

I seriously got to the end of this story, jerked up in my seat and thought, "Wait! What's she done? She had Sandy hit Ryan? And made him refer to my house as though Ryan is there on sufferance, and is close to wearing out his welcome?" Really, I thought it was some kind of ironic joke--sort of "Bet you weren't paying attention because you thought this was just going to be a warm and fuzzy Sandy-Ryan scene. Well, ha! Got you!"

But then I decided it was really commentary on The OC itself: "You think this was OOC for Sandy? Think again. Have you watched season 3 lately?" And no I haven't, exactly because of this--the fact that the show let/made the characters drift so far from their original selves.

That said, I did love your characterization of Ryan here, and the sly way you led us on with supportive, concerned Sandy before tasering us with the ending. If only it were completely implausible, but last season . . . *sighs and wonders*

The warm and fuzzy Sandy-Ryan scene was just too ... warm and fuzzy. :) I think your first reaction was the most accurate. Mostly Maud and Overnighter sitting on the devil shoulder, making me turn Sandy bad. And no one on the angel shoulder to steer me back.

S3 sucked. I only just rewatched it, and there was more WTF moments than squees. S4, on the hand...SQUEEEE!

Thanks for reading, even if I did sucker punch you. :)

Okaaaaay....so here I was reading, and thinking 'This is so unlike ctoan's writing' (authority that I am on all things OC) There was just something....off.

Then I got to the end and after I picked myself up from the floor (and kept going back up to the header: 'ctoan---check; MSC---check; Nov. 1, not April 1---check) the lightbulb went off. 'I'll take a reality check please' And just where is The Magnificent Bastard when you need him? I'm not making sense, you say? I think I'm in good company !

That was good--though Sandy backhanding Ryan left me speechless. I hate TPTB for making me hate Sandy last season, when his relationship with Ryan was the thing that had drawn me to the show in the first place.

Loved Chino!Ryan :)

Um, gosh. O.K. I'm not sure what to think here. I was shocked too. I was shocked that Ryan was drinking and then as others, more shocked that Sandy hit him. I'm not anti smacking by the way, but I was still surprised. I'm interested actually. Do you think Sandy would do that as a parenting thing or is this to show he's not in a great place himself? It's certainly made me think. I can definitely see Sandy doing that kind of thing if he thought it would be the best thing in the circumstances. Thanks for such a thought provoking scene.

Ah, now I've read the other comments I can see. Even more thought provoking.

I'm still confused, each time I think I have a handle on this, I lose it.
Case in point 'Volchek' that has to be significant, but it eludes me...
