Wow, yeah Lobster Boy definitely said pretty much all there is to say. It's been six years since i was at CSSSA but my advice would be to just jump into it all head first. Be ambitious but not pushy; be open but not obnoxious; be friendly but not a doormat. I made a great group of friends that summer based on those three principles and had a great experience because i wasn't afraid to jump up and try something out of my comfort zone. When it comes to the "drama" (because it will come to that, it always does with us types) keep a cool head, have someone you trust talking to and distance yourself because there's nothing worse than trying to do a scene in your master class with someone who's pissed at you (i don't EXACTLY speak from experience but something CLOSE to experience
( ... )
PS If you're going to the Gamelan performance by the music students, you might as well go to the African Drumming and Dance performance (might be on a different morning). Heehee it's nice to know that someone's highly recommending the Gamelan.
Theatre was AMAZING. I'm so exhausted for you! I just have something to add about the monologue, know it really really well. It's going to be the piece that you might need to rely on for some of the exercises. You want to know it well enough that you don't even have to think of what words you're going to say.
As for general advice, make sure you don't get sick while you're there because it might hinder all the fun you'll be having! I had bronchitis for two weeks of the program and it was interesting.
Definitely wear comfortable clothing that you can roll around in because you'll be doing a lot of that all the time.
Have an open mind, try everything, keep a journal!!! :)
