inverse properties of infected mushroom

An idea I've been kicking around for a while now has been to try eating vegetarian for some length of time. I think it would force me to expand my cooking techniques and explore new ingredients (looking at you, tofu); I also think it would be an interesting thought experiment to have to be so conscious of what goes into my food. It's arguably healthier and better economically. So I'm finally biting the bullet and setting dates and rules, and inviting anyone who would like to join the challenge to do so. Please reply if you plan on participating or if you have anything to add to the guidelines!

Details:
  • This challenge is strictly self-imposed and on the honor system. In the spirit of getting social momentum, I encourage you all to follow these guidelines so we are all on the same page.
  • The challenge will run from 2 Nov to 30 Nov, inclusive. This is a Wednesday to a Wednesday, neatly 4 weeks.
  • Thanksgiving dinner (that is, on Thursday, 24 Nov) is of optional participation. Feel free to stick to vegetarianism for that day if you'd like, of course, but it's decidedly not against the rules to enjoy a traditional turkey dinner on the holiday.
  • On all other days during the challenge, all meat - including fish - is prohibited.
  • Animal by-products, like milk, eggs, and honey, are allowed.
  • Rennet and gelatin, after some deliberation, are allowed. Similarly, non-vegetable stocks and broths are allowed but discouraged; personally I will be using these sparingly or not at all.
  • If you'd like to post here about participating, please use the tag "nov 2011 vegetarian challenge". :)
