I'm picky about my poetry. My BFF loves Alan Ginsberg, I can't stand him. I adore Sylvia Plath, my friend thinks she's creepy. We do both agree on Shakespeare. That's about it.
I think maybe I need to wait until I'm in the right mood. Possibly when it is the middle of winter, snow on the ground, below zero and I don't want to go out anyway, then I'll attempt Shakespeare. While I wait for that, I dug out Les Miserables and will give that a try.
You are not a failure. (hugs) Know what it's like to be eyeball deep in ideas and no time/ability to get them out. Also know what it's like to read poetry and get bored. I have to read it aloud, personally, because it makes a difference to hear it. Love Shakespeare because of that.
Thanks. What happened to the days of nothing to do. Ah, the wasted youth.
I've found that I like some of the mythology types better, but yeah bored might be the problem. Reading poetry aloud is probably why I prefer Silverstein and Prelutsky. That is also why Pip keeps picking up those books at the library as we read them together.
