I am currently giving a salt bath to my garden's first head of broccoli--even though it doesn't appear that we've actually got the cabbage loopers that you're supposed to be killing with the salt bath. Better safe than terrifying the kid with one of the veggies he subsists on.

I don't believe that at any time before, I've managed to grow a pumpkin that got bigger than a fist. I'm seeing the same issue with these vines that I've seen in the past -- it seems like there's 10-15 male flowers for every 1 female flower, but they're growing so happily/fast/extensively that I'm actually getting a decent number of female flowers.

I'm having the worst time with my summer squash right now, but my spinach has been out of control which is awesome considering this is the first year I've ever even done a garden.

Our tomatoes and green beans have started to take off these last couple of (sunny) weeks, now that the gray and rain have finally gone away. We've had lots of snow peas, which have been really great in stir frys, but aside from those and berries, we're going to be waiting a while for the tomatoes to get to the point of producing anything.
