So I started writing this Jack/Ianto piece today (yes, I am trying to prove my worth as a Janto fangirly after all this Ianto/Gwen talk I've been doing ;D), it's just a one off thing that's currently counting in at around 2500words, but I seem to have written myself into a bit of an awkward spot and am unsure of how to proceed. Can I pester anyone

Wow, I'm so out of the loop. What's been going down in fandom then? I kind of don't get involved with much fandom stuff anymore, mostly because I don't have the time to wade through all those posts (big fandoms = half my life gone) so I tend to miss all this.

There was a review posted for episode 4 by someone who's apparently seen it, it hints basically states that Jack/Gwen is very unrequited only because Rhys is in the picture. The shippers for Jack/Gwen and Jack/Ianto are beating the hell out of each other/RTD/the TW writers over it.

Trust me, you really don't want to be spending your time wading through this type of shizzle. It'll make you brain explode with woe that our fandom has been reduced to this drama.

Hmm... See, I don't like Gwen as a character, which maybe influences how I view the scenes between Jack and Gwen, but I just don't see the chemistry at all. Their scenes come across as very awkward and stilted a lot of time. Didn't see it last series, haven't seen any hints of anything but mutual friendship thus far this series. I don't know...maybe that is because I like Jack/Ianto, and this is one of the few fandoms where that relationship is canon. I mean, I hate to, y'know, make this point, but there's been no hard evidence that Jack and Gwen have ever had anything except friendship, whereas it's kind of hard to deny that Jack and Ianto aren't in a relationship, whether that relationshp is just about sex or otherwise. *shrugs*

I hate fandom. I ran straight from the House fandom when that turned into just wank. It'd be shit for Torchwood to go the same way.

Aside from that one scene in 2.01 I feel she has improved a bit as a character. However, I fear that the diro TW looks as thought it's heading will ruin this recently formed opinion I have of her. I don't think anything physical will ever happen between Jack and Gwen this series but it looks as though the writers are definitely trying to build up an emotional relationship between them.

But my feelings for her/this aside, I don't agree with fandom going all batship crazy about these ships. Fair enough it's good to have a good ol' rant in the privacy of one's own journal, but it's so not okay to go and bombard communities with your emopain about it.

I don't want my fandom to turn into another "House" or "Harry Potter" or "Supernatural" or one of any other billion other fandoms that have declined into shipwars and madness, it's disheartening.

Dear God I'm not a Gwen fan but when there's even a community specially for people to write fics that bash Gwen it might be a sign that things have gone too far. And I'm not even going near the shipwars that have been going on

There really needs to be one, probably one that only allows 'frienship' stuff, because all this fanwank is over our ships and it's driving me mental! I mean, usually I'm not a Gwen fan (;D), and I know I rant about her character sometimes, but I wouldn't go an bash her outside my own LJ/close friends LJ's. It's just not right. It's like airing your underclothes in public or something- no one wants to see that kind of shizzle.

God I love this fandom but there are certain parts of it I'd gladly get rid of.

If you're actually writing a fic solely to bash Gwen and to do that you're having to make the characters so OOC I actually feel like checking to see if were watching the same show then YOU'RE DOING SOMETHING VERY WRONG.
If you're talking about how you don't like Gwen on your own journal or your friends journal then that's a whole different thing.

And yes we need a 'no ships here' zone because while I love my ships (and have far too many of them) they cause too much trouble at times.

Exactly! I have to admit, I joined that comm just to scope out what was going on. But my morals got the better of me and I soon hightailed it out of there. It's just not right. Imagine how irate we'd be if an anti-Ianto community cropped up!

I just wish we could all keep the love and peace :(( whatever happened to just basking in the squee?

As Bexy said, we've been talking about making an anti-wank comm for the saner side of fandom! Because there are some scary Jack/Ianto shippers who need in the words of the Other Captain Jack, to:
STOP BLWOING HOLES IN MY SHIP!
And we may dislike Gwen, but we're trying to like her and he don't want to bash her!
