Very interesting. I'm not sure where the italicized parts fit, time-wise, but maybe it's better that way.

I used the italics to try and give the impression of a conversation that takes place sometime in the future but which still holds all the emotion of the 'past'/their current situation. I'm not sure if it worked for most people but whatever way you interpret it, I thank you for reading and hope you liked what you read. :)
