[She recognizes the name, but doesn't say anything as she walks into apartment.] Thanks for inviting me over.

[He leans back and looks at the ceiling.] The first time I visited another dimension, I was fifteen. My friend April had a tenant living in the basement of her building. He had a magic pencil... [The story gets weirder from there.]

[Okay, so it wasn't technically a magic pencil. It was an ordinary pencil with a magic crystal tied to it. Anyway.] ... And inside the portal, everything he had drawn was real! Which was amazing, until they started attacking us... but then he drew a Gravitic Equalizer for me, and I used it to defeat them! Too bad I couldn't take it home with me... [There's something sad in his voice, more than the loss of a cool gadget would warrant.]

It - was an experience. [He falls silent.]

[Winry puts a hand on his shoulder. There's something she's missing, but... she won't ask.] I bet. Have any other stories?

Mmm... [His fingers trace absent shapes over his plastron.] A few months later, my brothers and I were staking out a building. We infiltrated it... and discovered that the people inside were aliens. Shortly after, they discovered us. There was a fight. I was knocked onto a platform, my brothers followed me... It was a teleporter.

[A few things run through her head. A fight? Aliens?] Where did you guys go?

We were transported to a planet called D'Hoonnib, where we immediately got involved in another fight, and had to go on the run as accomplices of a wanted fugitive. [Long stare into space.] It took us three weeks to get home again.

[Three weeks? That may not be a year, but it's still a long time to be away from home. Unsure of what to say relevant to that, she nudges Don lightly with her elbow.]
