Moldy Cornbread

Aug 24, 2008 06:51

Things are bad here. Tough, tough, tough. I have been managing to hold it together most of the time, but this morning I flipped out in the kitchen while my girlie was in the living room. She didn't witness it, but heard it.

The cornbread had nothing to do with it, but sort of matches the mood. Girlie wanted the last of the cornbread for breakfast, ( Read more... )

I recently made some discoveries about how lousy my insurance is, but this still became very apparent: I can't afford not to have it on anyone (except me, maybe, but I'm certain karma would deal harshly with my not insuring myself).

Lex's trip to the immunologist? 4000+ Any given visit to the ER? $400 Urgent care? $250 A broken bone, a couple thousand...

$200 a month is steep for the lowest plan (though I would expect its better than the highest plan available to me)... do YOU have coverage? Mine is an additional 100 I think for each of the kids and X, but covering them WITHOUT me is quite a bit more.

That's the bugger. I'm covered with VA. It's been free up till now. Since I have a good job, they have told me I'll have to pay a co-pay, but they haven't charged me anything yet... still getting their paperwork squared away (sometimes govt procrastination works in our favor). My prescriptions are $24 for a month's supply, which is a large co-pay, but still cheaper than buying them outright.

VA doesn't cover families, which I believe is appropriate. So, insurance would be a govt subsidized family plan. It would doubly insure me, which isn't necessary, and my girlie, who is a freaking healthy eleven year old. She broke her toe last year, had a cast and crutches, and it all came to $180. Dennis took her to some community clinic. I can do that too.

Incidentally... letting the bank have our house and just walking away from it is one of my top 3 options right now for getting my life back.

Ha ha! I TRIED! I've been trying to contact Countrywide and tell them it's my gift to them. PLEASE take my house. It's a good house. Enjoy this gift. But they will not respond or take my calls or my emails. Ha! Probably because everyone and their brother is trying the same option.
