It's not remotely ridiculous. It's a completely plausible, probable, and physically possible scenario. Unfortunately, that's also not how they did it. :)

My theory is... they got Ali, House's 17 year old stalker, to distract everyone by calling up and professing her love for House... and they snuck out while everyone's back was turned :P
