Okay, maybe it's just me...

...but this just struck me as surreal.

You know that Seal song, "Kiss from a Rose"? Someone used it for their solo last night on So You Think You Can Dance Canada, and I idly started wondering why I'd never seen it vidded (granted, it's 15 years old, so maybe it was overvidded in Highlander or Xena or X-Files fandom back in the day...), and in ( Read more... )

LOL

I remember seeing way too much of that clip back in the days. Just the idea of someone not being aware it was a Batman song amuses me ^^ No comment on Batman shipping, I'd love to see it used for Utena though.

ETA: and if you didn't know about Kiss from a rose, you might not know the clip for Kill me, Kiss me, Thrill me, something else me by U2? It was a pretty awesome clip with cartoon bit! ETA2 There you go

I never saw the '90s Bat-movies! But that U2 video is pretty awesome -- clever and playful. Even though I'm a bit in shock at the bit of movie dialogue they throw in -- Batman saying "Chicks dig the car" about the Batmobile?!?

I am always up for more Utena vids, and Kiss from a Rose is thematically perfect. *g*

Yeah, that was one of the bad Bat movies - I never watched it myself. I just love the bits of animation, especially the ending ^^ and the song!

*sighs* I'm only half way through my downloading the remastered Utena series. Long way until i can do some serious vidding with it.

I've never been able to decide whether the song is terrible or brilliant or both. But that video really tips the scales for me into brilliant.

i love the song (but then, seal is one of my favorite artists) ...like other pieces of his, it rides the crest of hopeless schmaltz without falling into it.

that video, though, i'd never seen it (i was actually pretty horrified that it was appropriated by the batman franchise, particularly that phase of the batman franchise. i'd liked it since it was released on his second album, a couple years before.) the clip, which i can only watch about half of lest i tie up the imagery too much with the song, makes me laugh like a mad woman. it appears the entire cast of batman forever is turning in lovelorn adoration toward seal and, in some cases, fighting to get to him, be with him, LOVE HIM.

i mean, i totally get it, me too. but i don't think the subtext was at all intentional, and it makes BF that much more strange to me.

btw, you can score that soundtrack CHEAP and it's got some good shit on it.
