Joan Didion Writes Fan Fiction

Specifically, fanfic for MTV's The Hills, posted at songs about buildings and food. And I can prove it! My textual evidence, let me show you it....

From "hiatus, part 3":

Lauren’s really glad they never show her waking up on the show. A lot of people would say that the reason not to show a scene of her waking up is that it’s a boring scene, that’s ( Read more... )

I didn't see the fauxrec (see...it's a genre label already!) for Y Tu Impala Tambien, but I join with rydra_wong in cheering, applauding, and stamping my feet.

I think it's kind of a shame that TV!Dexter doesn't pursue the Dark Passenger theme, because, well, a Dark Passenger would be a Demon, wouldn't it?

Thank you!

Next on Superdexterous: the Dark Passenger criticizes Dean's driving & taste in music, while making Sam sit in the back seat. Meanwhile, blood seeps out of the Impala's trunk....

It's actually Lisa Love's lesbian lover who does all the writing - it's a kind of Gertrude/Alice situation. She used to sit in the closet at Teen Vogue and watch Whitney and Lauren work for hours and now that they're gone, she's going through withdrawal and sending me her stories. Don't tell anybody, though, I like to take the credit.

p.s. "Is totally something that Joan Didion would write about for the New York Review of Books. I don't understand why nobody's commissioned her to write that article, which would maybe require her spending a week hanging out & crashing with Lauren and friends at their house." - oh man, that would be so awesome. i never would have made the whole "White Album"-"Hills" LA connection, kudos.

I like to think that Whitney & Lauren always assumed that the strange lady wandering the halls of Teen Vogue was a former intern who went mad, and that Lisa just keeps her around as a lesson/cautionary tale for them -- and because she makes great brownies.
