If I had to do the same again, I would my friend

I have to confess that I'm back on the crack. Yep, that's right, I'm watching Australian Idol again this year. I'm doing that with blarglefiend because (a) I don't have a television, (b) it's a good way for us to catch up regularly and (c) the show is no fun watched alone without the snark. My reasons for watching are a little different to most; Idol started ( Read more... )

Crucifixion, perhaps?

Anyway, as I pointed out tonight, when I did shave my beard off you were pretty insistent about the need for prompt regrowth.

I know. And before he trots along to point it out, it should also be noted that when chromatica did an impromptu shave while we were together, I screamed in fright when I first saw him afterwards. This is slightly more understandable: he hadn't given me any warning and I saw him in the doorway before I heard him; I honestly thought he was a robber.

I'd genuinely like to think I don't have such a specific physical preference. I'm sure I insisted quite earnestly to both of you that it wouldn't make a difference whether you kept the beard or not, but apparently I *am* that superficial...

Meh. We like what we like, doesn't make you superficial -- you don't just like any random guy with a beard and long hair, after all.

He has to be an IT geek too.

*heh*

Iz srs cat nao.

I don't think IT geekery is a prerequisite so much as a coincidence. My hypothesis is that the long hair + beard combo is more common among IT geeks, which is why I've tended to find myself dating them. Also: the blind community is crawling with IT geeks, so that accounts for most of my high school boyfriends. Really, it's not that I want my computer fixed or anything.

(Upon further thought, I have dated men who either didn't have long hair or didn't have a beard, but they've always had at least one of those features, except the guys who I went out with when I was a teenager who were all roughly my age and not really into the bearded look. The long term relationships have been with the men who usually have both.)

Interesting ... when Steve went through his beard phase I managed to convince him it didn't look any good and he shaved it off for me :-) I muchly prefer them clean cut.

Mark Spano is my object of affection on Idol but he needs to up the performance. In terms of what they're actually producing, Roshani is my favourite :-)

I can see why you'd like Mark. He's cute, just not my type. In terms of consistency and diversity I have to agree - I think Roshani is the most flexible and consistent.

I hear you on the beard thing. Apparently only 5% of women prefer men with beards. I'm definitely one of them.

Hair length doesn't really matter to me so much on men. I do insist that my own hair remains short though. :)

I don't think the hair length matters as much to me as the beard. When Cameron and I were together there were times when his hair was quite short and it never bothered me. (Un)fortunately, I don't think there are any existing photos of him without the beard for your amusement value and/or alarm...

I used to think I'd keep my hair short too. It's certainly much less of a pain that way. Then I got lazy about going to the hairdresser, and here I am with boob length hair. Oops.
