and in spite of it all, the sun was still shining. Grass was still green. Somewhere outside, a bird was still singing.

What did you do, in the face of so much insanity?

This I loved. Wonderful and terribly realistic, a very well grasped view of reality going on as always, ass seen through the kid's eyes (or the eyes of anyone in that situation). The day itself came out feeling as horribly beautiful, full of sunshine and flowers and colour, even though their mother was being buried. Awesome counterpoint! This fic - as a whole - deserves much love!

Thank you ^_^ "Horribly beautiful" is a phrase we should get to use more often. There are things of great beauty, and of great terror, that are simply too much for the human mind to comprehend, I think.

Not particularly, no... This was one of those ideas of mine that just didn't fully pan out.

... *whimper*

The descriptions of how everything was so minutely wrong was really just wonderful. Because despite the detail, despite the careful cataloguing of all of it, it's so very, painfully clear that nothing's really wrong at all. This line just brings that out incredibly, incredibly well, for some reason: "The parlor had too many angles." Just something so normal, something that they've seen so many times before, and now it isn't right. <3

So much love for this.
