Rachel Booth, 13 kills her father

When I was that age or 14 or so, I tried to plot the perfect murder of my mom for much the same reason. I can relate to the desperation and sense of hopelessness. Social Services didn't act even when informed repeatedly by the mother, apparently. They failed that girl. I hope it all comes out at trial and she gets help rather than jail.

I suppose if he was sleeping it isn't "self-defense" per se but then again, what's she supposed to do? If she complains, what further abuse would she face? Perhaps she had complained repeatedly and yet it continued. It would then be a real form of self-defense, I would think, to wish to not be abused the coming morning when dad woke up, or what have you. I also suppose she could have run away ... but there's a plight, for sure.

Another thing - isn't it amazing how we know her name - Rachel Booth? She's a 13 yr. old victim of years of sexual and physical abuse and she is now going to be known by the nation. Everything known. Poor girl. I wonder what the heck they are thinking charging her as an adult. In doing so, does it make it easier for them to advertise her name like that?
