I don’t know where you live but you can google your area for no cost to you assistance with everything you have listed here in this entry and whatever else you need help with. Sounds like the whole house needs to be gutted. Generally a good place to start for direct help or at least local referrals are the following places,

the red cross
salvation army
local churches
habitat for humanity.

I suggest that you get a free consultation with a social security disability attorney [they work on a contingency - no out of pocket expense], to file an appeal to whatever decision that was entered that caused the discontinuation of your moms benefits. The crucial and most vital aspect to filing the appeal is that as is with most federal benefit programs they are retro active to the date of application. Hope that this helps you out a lil bit, God bless you and your mom and congratulations on your engagement.

A reverse mortgage means that after your mom dies the house goes to the bank. It won't and can't be Willed to anyone. It leaves your family.
The amount of money your mom receives will depend on the amount of Equity still in the house, which will depend on a new appraisal.

There are a number of government programs that will give a loan OR a grant to upgrade and remodel a home.
Or, post your mom''s place on one of those reality shows where they do the remodel for the camera.
That might be interesting.
