[Whack-A-Muse] 003 - The Truth Of The Matter Is...
“The truth of the matter...is that I’m a witch.”
She had no trouble saying it. She’d been saying it for months now. It was saying it to Noah that was going to be the hardest thing she’d ever done. He knew nothing about magic, and he’d probably never knowingly met a Paranormal in his life. It wasn’t uncommon, even in this day and age, for some people not to know, and he didn’t.
She had to fix that. Fast.
Not only had she already made two trips to Magnolia to see Noah, one with the Tot and one without, but Granddad was starting to ask questions about why she hadn’t introduced them when “that nice boy” was in town. Joe was asking more about Noah’s family, and the twins had asked about playing with Noah’s daughter when they found out he had a kid.
They wanted to know him, meet him, everyone she knew and loved. The problem was that he wasn’t ready to meet them...and they didn’t have a clue that she had been hiding the truth from him.
It was a lie by omission, pretending she was something else, but it was still a lie. And she didn’t want that.
Telling him she was falling for him would be easier than this was going to be.
After forty five minutes of practicing in front of the mirror, she was ready. She had the words...simple, short, and easily open to explanation. After evasively asking for advice, reading all the newbie psychobabble literature, and long hours of self-examination, she had the right way to start The Talk. He’d either get it and still want her...or he’d freak and she’d lose him.
“Noah, the truth of the matter is that I’m a witch.” No hesitation this time...no fear.
Now all she had to do was talk to him.
