Ezra was actually a sweetheart in this episode for a change. I loved how taken he was with Olivia and he seemed to be the only guy not trying to pawn her off and paying attention to her on a non-condescending level. He really is terribly good with kids. This is the second time in a few short episodes that we see him very capably and kindly dealing with youngsters.
Ezra is just terrific in this and he really handles Olivia very well. She pays attention to him as opposed to the others, who she basically ignores what they want her to do. Buck is a bit of a goober in this. I do agree about Ezra being very fast and I do love how he can bring the bad ass as needed.
Ezra really has it together in this one, far more than he normally does. He really is great with kids mainly because he seems to treat them on an equal basis more than any of the other guys.
For some reason, they tended to deemphasize Ezra's bad ass side but he could be just as formidable as Chris when he wanted to. I think it's because Anthony Starke is so good at comedy so they used Ezra for comedic relief more and more. He is great with kids and doesn't condesend to them, I think he got a lot of that when he was growing up.
Ezra's a hard character to like without his humor. I think that's part of the reason they kept him comedic too. Ezra, when given the opportunity, is just as capable as Chris. He generally goes about things with a different tact, but when it comes to quick drawing, Ezra is probably just as fast as Chris. He's also just as ruthless, but generally choses not to act on it. He'd rather use brains than guns, but he's GOOD with a gun.
