There's this guy where I work, Duncan. He's one of those people that loves food so much they can't control the little grunts and 'mm's of pleasure as they eat. The only time I've ever heard "molding" used by an American is in reference to home decorating, where a molding refers to some decorative molded plaster on the wall. (Martha Stewart does not live here.) When I talk about something "moulding,", as you define it, I use either "decaying" or "rotting."

What a strange coworker you have. McDonald's is one of the lowest forms of food one can buy.

On further thought, there's an archaic word "mouldering," as heard in the old folk song "John Brown's body is a-mouldering in the grave." This word is not in common use but might crop up in some of the more backwater regions of the Eastern US, like Appalachia.

Not that this is important or anything. :)
