That whole first section of dialogue was really, really good. How much time has passed between this and the section before? It could only be an evening but that section makes me feel like this has been slowly building up for Elijah over a couple of weeks.

Maybe you could link it with the idea he is growing in confidence with his sexuality at the same time as this is going on? Or that might take the fic in a totally different direction!

Well, it is partly open to inturpreation, I'm not really sure. It must be about a week maybe bit less might be a bit more. But the class room bit is a while later again.
No u've hit hte nail on the head, so to speak, his confidence is growing, lead by the fact hes falling for joe and hes learning about his sexuality.
Have you seen Queer as folk? Elijah is part Nathan part someone else close to you *cough cough* and also I totally hear him with a mancs accent! tho its kinda set in america.. for some reason!

I really like the passage of time thing, it should be a slow and considered thing- leaves plenty of room for a good old shot of angst!
