Prompt-Callie and Erica wait up for Santa
a/n-Written for the erica_callie  exchange for hahnsrockstar .  I managed to make Santa show up in here so if there are any faults hopefully that makes up for it :)

"I thought you said you wanted to wait up for Santa? Im pretty sure I wasnt drinking wine when I waited up for Santa as a kid." Callie makes a face at me as she hands me a glass of wine.

"Yeah well you more than likely you fell asleep in footie pajamas by the time midnight rolled around."

"I did no such thing! One time I made it until 1230." Callie laughs as she sits next to me and snuggles under the blanket."

You were quite the rebel there. I am sorry I doubted you." Callie leans in and gives me a kiss that makes me smile.

"All is forgiven." I say smiling back

Now we both know Santa isn't really going to come but its our first  official christmas together and we wanted to spend it together and what better way than to spend it than waiting up for the big old jolly guy. Plus we are no longer ten so we can make it past midnight drinking wine and watching the twenty for hour marathon of a christmas story.

I was never big on christmas after my childhood years. Divorce and deaths of family members dwindled down our numbers until eventually there was no point in getting together anymore. With Callie though it's different. She likes christmas music but only from after thanksgiving until Christmas day. If you play it on the twenty sixth of December watch out. The smile on her face when she suggested this had me happily breaking out the milk and cookies for our imaginary jolly friend and sitting here now I am glad I did. By the time the sun comes up we have gone through two bottles of wine watched a christmas story for at least the fifth time and unwrapped each other. We both decided that we would be the one gift that we unwrapped at midnight  We finally make our way into clothing so we can start opening presents. We just get started when there is a knock at the door.

"I got it!"Callie runs to the door and swings it open. We both gasp when we see who is there. In the flesh is Santa standing at our doorway and for a second neither Callie or I move.

"Ho Ho Ho Merry Christmas ladies." Callie laughs as I roll my eyes with a smirk on my face. Of course it's Mark. I was thrilled when Callie asked me to move in with her after Cristina moved out. Not so thrilled when Mark moved in right across the hall. Even though it irks me a little to say it he has grown on me. Mark walks in and sets down his bag of gifts as Lexie follows him in.

"Merry Christmas." She says shyly. Shes grown on me to.

"Merry Christmas. Callie and I reply as Mark spies the milk and cookies by the christmas tree.

"Hey those are meany for Santa!"

"But I am Santa."Mark replies through a mouthful of cookies as he looks at Callie.

"Oh you are something alright." Callie huffs. I cant help but laugh as I bring my arms around her waist.

"Let him eat the cookies babe. After all he is running around in a Santa suit." Callie looks at me with an arched eyebrow.

"You are willingly being nice to Mark?"

"Tis the season." I smirk as she rolls her eyes. "Besides we were waiting up for Santa and well there he is." I laugh as Mark stuffs another cookie in his mouth whole.  Callie turns in my arms so she is facing me.

"I guess but next year how about we get you a little sassy santa suit. I would be far more welcoming to sharing my milk and cookies with you." The look in her eyes nearly takes me out at  the knees as she walks into the bedroom. It takes me five minutes to get Mark, the plate of cookies and Lexie out the door telling them to be back later for dinner. Relization dawns on Mark as to why I am in such a hurry. He is just about to say something when I shut the door in his face.

"Ow what was that for?" I hear through the door. Its muffled so im guessing its through another mouthful of cookie.

"Really Mark?" That's the last thing I hear before I shut our bedroom door. I never thought waiting up for Santa in my 40's would ever surpass all those childhood years combined. Looking at Callie laid on our bed beckoning me towards her I can't help but wait for next year.
