A Scanner Darkly: most satisfying film I've seen in a long time. Bizarrely hilarious, deadly serious, everything in between, brilliant commentary, trippy, visually interesting, not ruined by Keanu Reeves (gasp?). I really want to read the book it was based on now. Despite all my intentions, I've never read anything by Philip K. Dick ( Read more... )

Aww, I wanted to see that one. We were supposed to get it at the theatre over the summer, but we never did. Of course, I do have a soft spot for Keanu Reeves and his look of constant bafflement. Hehehe. Glad it's a good one.

Forgot to add: have you got your bank letter yet? I still haven't and am probably going to go harass the folks at Northcote House this week, but if you've got yours I might wait to see if mine's coming.

Ha, nice timing. Was about to email you about this. Funny story. This afternoon I broke down and went to Northcote House and they gave me a bank letter. How long did it take? 5 minutes tops.

Trauma aside, I now have a bank letter, and I fully recommend you do the same because it is so damn easy. Graaa.

Room 153, if you don't know, it's sort of annoying to find but there were people enough to ask. The Registry, anyway. Northcote House is crazy with their security and swiping student cards to get through doors. Wtf. Anyway!

Also, happy birthday! Doing anything British and fun? Or just fun? heh.
