I figured it out. It's so simple. Even if the navigation and communication instruments have failed, I can still...

Yes.

Yes.

[the captain is broadcasting loud and clear, or as clear as one can be when the intercom is flickering and blacking out, pouring grating static out into the ship. even the lights start to flicker, viewscreens and signs blinking in an out. the lights manage to recover, but every other illuminated surface - screens, signs, clocks, all of them - flare in brilliance and then abruptly go black.]

I can just kill you all.

[then he's gone]

Details
By all rights and purposes, the captain has finally lost his mind. What does this mean to the passengers? It means the end is on its way. The second half of the child plot also marks the beginning of the ENDGAME plot! That's right, everybody~~we are officially approaching the end of crucible_rpg's first in-game cycle! This will mean a few things, which I shall present in nifty list format:

    Game Changes
      • Applications and Reserves are now CLOSED until December 22nd, which is the start of the game's next cycle! Applications may still be posted at any time, but they will not be processed until the new cycle begins.

      • Players might want to start considering what state their characters will be in for the next cycle. A cycle restart is the only official time that characters might experience a canon update (barring special circumstances), so if you've been meaning to update your pup, now's the time! Just let me know via the mod email or AIM that you'll be updating and why, then change the information in your application appropriately.

      • Similarly, when the new cycle starts players are allowed to choose just how much of the last cycle their characters remember. All of it, some of it, none? The only memory that will be removed, no exceptions, is the memory of exactly what it is that shall bring DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM upon them all. So! Something players might want to decide beforehand.

Further details and specifics will be released when the new cycle starts...and there may very well be a lot of them, along with a few surprises. Something to look forward to, no?

BUT! Before then, passengers have a few more things to deal with. As of this announcement, all displays of any kind - clocks, screens, etc. - have ceased to function except for necessary lighting in the halls and shops and the Spheres themselves. When I say necessary, I mean the bare minimum to get by. Remember all those horrible space horror video games where there's one light every twenty feet? Yes, it's exactly like that. Lights in the rooms still work just fine.

....however, about the rooms. As of this announcement, life support has started to fail on Level 22. This means that all passengers with Economy rooms have roughly twenty-four hours to flee their rooms before they can no longer support life. Thankfully, the ever-helpful computer voice in their rooms will inform them when the oxygen levels are reaching dangerously low, somewhere around the twentieth hour. The growing cold might be a good indicator of this as well. Passengers may seek refuge in other rooms inhabited by friends willing to let them stay over, in the halls, in the shops, or in any areas of the ship that are still functioning. Other, unoccupied rooms, however, still remain locked and off limits! As the computer voice tells passengers that their time is short, a panel will open in the wall to reveal a helmet very much like the captain's! If your character held on to their orange jumpsuit, the helmet can be used in conjunction with the suit to allow the character to traverse those areas of the ship even after life support has gone completely offline!

Otherwise, if your character damaged or destroyed or are unable to wear their suit then they are out of luck and will need to have escaped Level 22 as quickly as possible. But why would they be unable to wear their suit, you ask?

Time still seems to be in flux throughout the ship and passengers will be reverting to children at random. It's no-holds barred, folks! All passengers, whether or not they were part of the original groups, will change into children, but their minds will still be those of their adults selves. This part of the child plot is also optional! You may choose to have your character remain as they are or you may choose to have them take part in this second half of the plot. Characters will remain as children for exactly five days or less. Children can return to their adult bodies any time between now and the 13th, but by the 14th all children will be returned to normal just in time for the next big events.

To further complicate things, for each day that passes security will become more erratic in its punishments and judgments of what exactly constitutes a crime. Passengers could find themselves attacked by robots using live ammunition - lasers! :D - for putting graffiti on a wall, or they could be completely ignored despite the fact that they just blew up that same wall. When and where these confrontations with security are also up to you, the players, but for anything major, such as large-scale destruction as a result of battles or death and serious injury, please speak to me beforehand! It should be noted that children will be completely ignored by security, irregardless of whatever crimes they commit.

From this point on, the changes in the ship's status will be coming at a very rapid clip, much of them blending together as we approach the Crucible's last days. It may seem overwhelming, but that is my intention; the state of the ship can be likened to chaos at this point, a reflection of her captain's deranged state of mind. Backdating is, as always, allowed should the plot move ahead while threads do not. All previous problems with the ship remain in effect, except for a single transporter pad in a corner of Level 10's Maintenance Bay that passengers might not have noticed before. It leads to only one place: the Enviro-dome, which has become resealed as of this announcement. The only way in or out of the dome, for animals as well as passengers, is through that single transporter pad. Noticing this little oddity may come in handy later.

If you have any questions concerning the Endgame, the rest of the child plot, the state of the ship, or anything in general, please feel free to ask it here!

plot; put in their place, ! endgame 12/09/08 !, captain ganymede
