He, of course for reasons unknown to him, couldn't understand what the creature was saying. He paused for a second, studying the creature, and he couldn't help notice a slight difference in how it carried itself. Perhaps his own presence spurred it to violence. However, all he knew right then was that there was something blocking his way to Oliver's room--and wasn't about to stand for that ( ... )

The monster reacted to his threats, shifting menacingly. It clearly wasn't planning to stand down. Oliver realized then that not only could he see it and hear the odd gibberish it was spouting, he could smell the thing as well. It seemed it wasn't a hologram after all.

But that wasn't a problem for him. If this creature was going to attack him, he certainly wasn't just going to stand there and take it. What if someone else in his hall decided to come out of their rooms? He couldn't allow it!

"You are threatening the safety of everyone on board this ship. I won't just stand by and watch that! Be prepared, creature, to pay for your evil deeds!"

Aiming the blaster, he took a shot at the horrible thing.

The sudden blast of energy headed his way caught him off-guard. Where was the creature keeping such a thing?! However, he hadn't studied Venusian Aikido--and a few others, it paid to be a traveller with his knowledge and acquaintances--for all those years for nothing! So just before that blast struck its mark, he leapt to the side and rolled a few feet away, immediately jumping to his feet a split second later.

"How dare you?!" he cried indignantly. "Attacking me in such a cowardly manner!" Instead of drawing his blaster, he began to sprint down the hall, zigzagging to make himself a harder target to hit.

Oliver gave a shout of indignation as the creature dodged his shot. It began to make for him then, quickly covering the distance between them. "Hah!" Oliver shouted confidently, striking a ready pose. He could feel a sudden strength in his limbs that was unfamiliar but somehow natural. If that thing got to him, he would take it down.

And in the meantime, he aimed and let off several more shots at it.

The nerve of that creature continuing to fire at him! The last shot glanced his shoulder, knocking him back a few paces as he cried out theatrically and slammed into a nearby wall. Before he knew it, he'd drawn his own blaster and squeezed off a warning shot near the creature's head.

"Try that again, and I'll make sure not to miss!" he growled, not even noticing a hint of pain where the blast had hit him.
