Cell Phonez

Joe and I need to upgrade our cell phone plan. We got over-billed because stupid AT&T didn't change our account to have mobile-to-mobile and so every call Joe made to me or vice versa, we got double-billed. With lots of stuff going on lately, this added up to a (thankfully not unbearably so) higher-than-normal bill ( Read more... )

I personally like my Sony W580i. 2MP camera, FM radio, and if you by a M2 memory stick (about $20 at CompUSA, 9 at Amazon) you can use it like an iPod and a free upgrade.

The only bad thing about it, it is a crappy phone to text on as the keypad is so small. Usable, but kinda hard.

OKay, the phone I love the most is my Sony Ericcson w810i, they dont sell this one anymore, but yes the closest thing to it would be the w580i, the slider phone, just be cautious with it as yes its cool and and stuff... but SE made a big booboo when it came to the quality of the way its made.

I am partial to SE. However the new SE w760i, is a newer improved version if the phone and I actually am wanting to get this phone. It is just like the w580i, and it feels better made.

Thats my 2 cents.

Do whatever you can to buy online. Go to the store and play around with the phones till you get the one you like, and then buy it online. I saved $60 doing it this way. I got my Samsung A737 yesterday for free, and in a color I wanted. :) And the 2-day shipping was paid for as well.

I got an LG VU CU920 last month, for free with a plan renewal. You can see it here: http://www.amazon.com/LG-Vu-CU920-TV-Phone/dp/B0018OKDNG/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2?ie=UTF8&s=wireless&qid=1230920644&sr=8-2 but I got mine through Wirefly.com instead of Amazon.

It's a touch-screen, sort of like the iPhone (but cheaper, which was why I went for this instead). There's an option for adding a TV plan for $15 a month, which I didn't need so I don't have it but it's pretty cool. You can get email alerts and go online and whatnot, and I just really love it. I swear by AT&T and if you don't want to spend a lot for the iPhone, this is probably a good substitute.

Do you have to get a data plan with the LG Vu? That's one we're kind of considering... and we have two phones to upgrade... we looked it up on CNet and it looks pretty good.

Thanks for your advice! :)

To get it free, I did have to get a data plan; but I'm only paying about $10 a month more than I did before so it's really worth it. If you plan on texting or using the internet on the phone, you will want a data plan so the per-use charges don't rape you.

We are really looking at getting upgrades to our phones because we need to upgrade our service in the first place but I'm just worried it will push us a little bit up and over the top as far as cost goes... especially because my job is a little shaky right now. D:

We will probably look into it... I really did like the Vu though, it looks like a good little phone. :)

Although I must say with data-capable phones like this one we would almost HAVE to get a data plan, because otherwise it would just be very tempting to play online and stuff. The only time I've ever used the web on my current phone was when we were having a hurricane and the power went out. Had to know what the weather was doing to us!! ;)

I like the one I've got. You've seen it (I don't know the model though). It texts, and the text messages are paid for if you're in the same network. It doesn't charge calls for anyone in the network, in fact. It also does a bunch of stuff I don't use: plays music, plays games, videos, has a decent camera in it. You can use a little chip which costs $20 to upgrade its memory.
