Ok, I've clearly picked the wrong article to try to build up a conversation about Teachers' Unions around.

Allow me to recommend "anything Kevin Carey has ever written". The education columnist at WaPo...uh, Jay Matthews, iirc?...is also often worth reading (I don't always agree with him and sometimes he misses important aspects, but he's good about educating himself when his readership informs him he ought to ;).

Do you want a conversation about teacher's unions or about education reform?

It's easy to criticize unions, demand standardized testing, and penalize failing schools. Actually improving education doesn't seem to be so easy, though.

i'd like to back up the general "it's easy to complain, it's hard to even figure out how to fix, let alone actually do it" sentiment.
