more than welcome for the lift to the con... and sorry i wasn't around much... but it was probably a good thing as i don't think i was sober for a whole day at the con =P
when i was around it was awesome to catch up with you and am looking forward to catching up again next weekend. =D
As far as I am aware, the prizes for "Slightly Apocalyptic" were handed out at random. First time convention writer, and he had no idea what he was doing.
Thanks for the feedback on "Lockdown". I'll keep it in mind for the future.
Lockdown: The only problem I can see with adding that conflict is if the people with the keys actually open the doors, which would finish the game pretty quickly! ... but I don't think that's very likely, especially if you add a message that says "Stay in your bunkers until further notice." to the early transmissions. I do think it is a good idea to do *something* to push people into revealing the truth earlier, though. It took us 3/4 of the session to do it.
Lockdown has run four times now, and it's varied from everyone being told right from the start all the way to ten minutes until the end of the game. As a result, it's a bit hard to work out what the game actually needs as far as that goes.
I'm probably not going to be running it again for a while, so I'll keep thinking about it in the back of my head and see what ideas I can come up with.
Again, thanks for the feedback, it's very much appreciated.
I'm afraid I cannot comment on the games aspect of this post (other than maybe embarrassing myself), but I will say that Banff does do the best breakfast in St Kilda. The waitresses I also cannot comment on... :-)
It was an awesome weekend. =) James is kayjay1970 on here btw.
I agree with your assesment of most of the games there. I didn't play Lockdown and I'd previously play-tested Project Eden (which I enjoyed) but other than that, I'd say you're on the money.
My three favourites were. Love Lies Bleeding (which I think would have been just fine without any cthulhu, I really liked getting into all the messed up character stuff. Caine who ran Love Lies Bleeding is pastryproducts btw.), The Tale of The Princess and The Eye of Night (which was a fantastic tale and a great team game), and Tales from the City: Apotheosis (because lesbian stripper ninjas are fun and the story and setting are great). All of them were a great deal of fun and gave us plenty of time for team interaction and characterisation
( ... )
Well I suppose I made it fucking fantasy anyway. ;P Butt seriously... No, really, seriously, it ranks as a *headdesk* moment. I mean, come on, manticores are real now?
I heartily condone your con review, good sir. I had bold plans of making words online tonight myself, but I've been ambushed with fatigue. Goddamn post-con weariness.
It was so awesome to spend time with you guys again Melbourne-side, and congratulations on your convention awards success!

Are you a Leroys fan at all? They're another highlight around there...

I am sure Mr Notthebestjob could offer feedback on the waitresses. Especially if the redhead with the boobs was there on the day you visited ;)
Monday morning was only so-so for waitress-watching, by Banff standards, but that's a tough marking scale.

Well, obviously a lion with a human face and a scorpion's tail is much more likely than someone with girly parts being an adventurer. I mean, duh.
