I find that loyalty is a mac user trait. :) And I have to say that I've been using Mr. Toast's Macbook WAY more than the desktop, pretty much since he got it. I really love the keyboard.
Hehe, me too, especially since I got me a bright green silicon keyboard cover :D
For what it's worth, I regularly work with clients who use PCs and there's almost zero crossover trouble with the common programs. For most third-party software for PCs, there's a good Mac equivalent. The only thing I haven't found yet is a way to reset the region-switching count for playing DVDs. And that's hardly a reason to scamper back to PCs. I think the newer models even have solid-state HDs - how freaking cool is that?

You know, I've been a Dell cheerleader for a long time - we own probably a dozen, and, of course, we have a Special Debt to Teh Evol EmpyreTM...
However, as Dell's Customer Abuse Support Department has deteriorted to the state where it is next to completely useless, I'm not in favor of them so much these days.
I know a lot of folk who use Photoshop on Macs and a lot who do so on Windows machines (let's face facts, both are PCs - the whole Personal Computer thing, y'know) and a few who do so on both.
Just because other folks have said it doesn't mean you can't too. I am very fond of opinions. ;)
Pretty much any up-to-date laptop would handle Photoshop :) That's kinda what I thought, which was why I was flailing about in confusion on the subject. It seems like the Macs the better choice, though.
There I said it. That's almost a commitment, eh? *laughs*
Hey, I don't know about *always* better... in this case, yes. *is most stubborn*
I got a laptop in '04 and found that I absolutely love the portablity of such machines. Granted, I've *also* been clinging to my much-patched and aged desktop like a limpet as well - I guess I'm not much of an either/or person. :)

That's very reassuring to hear - I've been super paranoid about not being able to get to my writing [which has happened in the past].

Cool? *laughs* I don't really know, because I don't know what that means. Even after looking it up!

Go for the Mac.

Wow.
I was wondering/hoping that you'd comment to this query. And this wasn't really the response I expected, but it *does* firm up my decision. Thank you.
