Ah, what a truly lovely day it is in the Northlands. All sun and fluffy clouds, set in a sky of the faintest blue. It's a sky - and a day to wrap around yourself and savor ( Read more... )

Man, do you ever stop longing for summer vacation?

No. Never.

If you ever want to come out to visit the gorgeous Pacific NW, we have a guest bedroom and we like to climb mountains. Mt. St. Helens is always a great climb!

Ugh. :(
That, then, is a cruel, cruel trick we play on children. I can't say I approve. >:(

[What I really need is a job that frees up more of my summer. Traveling vagabond really needs to be more lucrative a pursuit.]

OH! Thank you for the invite; it's most kind. :D Please know that the same's true on this end - though granted, our mountains are much older and therefore shorter. :)

My mother's from WA [Okanogan, to be precise] and she was very focused on the Mt. St. Helens eruption. I think she still has a baby food jar of volcanic ash kicking around somewhere. I'd never think you COULD climb that mountain. Now I simply HAVE to. :D

I lived here in Portland, OR when Mt. St. Helens blew and we watched it from my grade school playground until the ash started falling. It ceased to be fun when the air became hard to breathe! I'm pretty sure that everyone in my family still has baby food jars and other containers full of ash, it was the thing to do.

Mr. HH and I climb Mt. St. Helens every 2 - 3 years. You can find out more infomation here and here. It is a nice 8 - 12 hour day of hiking, breathtaking views and sore feet. I highly recommend it! Unfortunately, you need to sign up almost a year in advance for permits. If it is something you are interested in for late next summer (we climb in Sept. usually), let me know and we can line up the permits and a climbing plan.

Wow.

I'd love to climb MT. St. Helens with y'all. what a gift. Do you mind if I bring Mr. Toast [the spousal unit]? This feels like such a sacred adventure, I'd hate to leave him out.

Ugh. In other news, I might be adopting you as family. so be warned and shit. :P

It sounds like a lovely day, too bad you have to spend it indoors :-/

I hope you'll manage to find the time for a tiny local adventure!

Zombie cats? That's scary and really not something I would like dreaming about. Definitely time to write Management and complain!

That was very much my feeling too. :-(
[Though, I did manage a little time meandering about once I got out of work.]

I think that teeny adventures are definitely going to happen. There are three destinations I have in mind at the moment... oh, and maybe berry picking too. I'll keep you posted, don't worry. :D

The zombie cats was especially awful, as it included my own ex-cat. >:( The only good thing about that awful dream was the random Brian cameo. [There was a party at this huge ramshackle house where the zombie outbreak happened; he was there.]

*goes to get stationary and a stamp*

Yeah, that part didn't suck. Though it was a little WTF? in nature.

[Today I got Frank being a little shit, but in an eye-rolling hilarious way, and the Way Brothers wearing some of the most ridiculous horn-rimmed glasses I've ever seen. They looked like Owls from the 70's and were very proud of the dorky factor.

I think my brain was trying to apologize.]

Zombie cats don't sound good at all!

I hope you got your adventure this afternoon.

Zombie cats are very much an adding insult to injury sort of ting. The regular zombies were bad enough! >:P

Well, I got dinner and beers out with friends [which included bonus hair compliments from an effusive stranger], so it worked out. :D

Happy Tuesday, darling!

There's a corvid-themed art exhibit somewhere slightly far-ish from here (St Johnsbury, I think?)I saw a mention of it in Seven Days and thought of you.

I made an extended "OOooo" face when I read this. :) I think that sounds like a lovely adventure! This week I have Friday and the following Monday off; I get out of work at 3:30. Does any of that work for you?

Any idea how long the show's up? The following weekend [8-1/8-2]I have Saturday free...

It's running through August 18. Weekends would definitely work better for me! Here's the link to the Seven Days write-up about it, sounds fantastic!
