It’s rained every day since the service. The Lake level is rising, flooding some of the castle’s lower rooms. Hagrid doesn’t care. The bottom half of his garden has become swamp land. Will o’wisps flicker by the compost heap, testing their foxfire’s brilliance. Hagrid ignores them. Next to his bed, the roof sprang a leak. He dimly remembers Professor McGonagall shoving his second best cauldron under the drip, promising to send Filch down to help with repairs. It doesn’t matter. Fang uses the cauldron as his water dish, so it doesn’t overflow. Hagrid is just grateful he’s not drinking alone.
