Also, I'm giving money to the local cat sanctuary this month. It's not one of my regular charities (Doctors Without Borders and a Swedish Coop Without Borders organization) but I try to remember to do it every few month.

I love hearing about the charities people support. As can be assumed from my post, I tend to stick with groups that fight hunger and ones that support the arts, especially local art. I've donated to Doctors Without Borders in the past too - good group, that. I don't think that we have anything like a cat sanctuary around here - what a cool idea! Oh, and:

I like thinking of my regular monthly charities as "one for immediate help and one for longtime, helping people to help themselves". Since our social security net is pretty well developed there isn't much need for people-related charities here in Sweden, except in the big cities, but far too many people still think of cats as things to throw out when they're no fun anymore so cat charities still have a lot to do unfortunately :-/
