Just wondering...

Hey gang, I've a question. Where do you get your political news from? Not having a television limits my access to some of the insanity mainstream resources, and it's become quite obvious I need to do more than read the NY Times and listen to NPR. I'm interested in good international news sources of news too. Thank you!

For politics, politico.com, slate.com, and huffingtonpost.com

For politics, women's issues, celebrity dirt, and anything else that deserves a side dish of snark, jezebel.com is by far my favorite.

Personally, I've got a subscription for a (Swedish) morning paper, but perhaps that's not a good choice for you? I know a lot of people don't have time to read the paper every day - I often don't, even if I try to at least browse through the news section.

As for international news, allow me to join in the praise for BBC. But I also on occasion find CNN to be a good source.

In case you're looking for Irish news, I recommend The Irish Independent and RTÉ.

CNN and BBC, they are honest and straightforward.

Cutting the person, you had to do what you had to do.

I normally don't watch TV news either, though I was glued to CNN for election night. And I do watch some PBS news analysis shows, but I get most of my news from BBC/NPR and from our local newspaper. For breaking news I check the CNN site. For entertaining news I check thedailybeast.com (caveat: Tina Brown's website), for partisan news, huffingtonpost.com. I'm not really up on news websites though, because I get most of my news from the radio.

I tend to go for BBC. That or CNN, sometimes.

I find it fascinating that so many of us go *outside* of our country for news first. How is CNN these days?

And do you keep up on the local news? I dunno if I've said anything to you about this, but pre-Northlands habitation I lived in Kent, Ohio. :)
