Title: Count your fears on one hand, and one hand alone.
Fandom: Lost
Character: Kate Austen
Spoilers: The Pilot, Tabla Rasa [just a smidge]
A/N: For today's most glorious and celestial Queen
astra2104, who requested 'Beginnings' and tales from the pilot as her due at
lostsquee. As she is a true connoisseur of the Haiku, I humbly offer five such snips of verse. *genuflects*

~~~~~
Count your fears on one hand, and one hand alone.
[or five times Kate was afraid in less than 24 hours]
1
Key and cuffs click
open in harmony as
the wing shears away.
2
Fingers slide through sweat
needle heeds, straddles the wound.
This is going to scar.
3
Death as rattlesnake:
Marshall gasps, his grasp still fierce.
Jungle welcomes her flight.
4
Determination:
corpse hands just another rung
for laddered ascent.
5
Frail safety clutched;
bark bites deep into Kate’s palms.
The sky falls, roaring.
