5 Steps to Crowdfunded Success

Jan 14, 2010 15:11

Following the recent launch of the Rose and Bay Awards, I've been browsing through a great deal of crowdfunded creativity ... and things that might be cyberfunded projects but I can't really tell, and things that would  be if they had a clear money path.  I realized that the most popular projects had certain things in common.  Doing these things ( Read more... )

Thank you for this post. I'm terrible at thinking about how to market myself, and I've been feeling kind of flaily about the whole website thing, but a blog landing page I think I can manage! Also, the donor honor roll idea is great. And I knew I needed to post the donation button more often, but I'm one of the shy ones.

The one I'm trying to figure out is audience interaction, since my current audience is reluctant to hit the comment button too much. I guess I could try polls, since people love those things...

I'm happy to be of service. I was going along and realized there were these very important things that hadn't really been codified yet. Cyberfunded creativity is still a developing field.

These things take practice. It's a lot easier to do one step at a time than a big list all at once.

If you put a donation button on your profile page, it will not be in anyone's face, but it will be easy to find for anyone who goes looking.

You know, seeing #4 gave me an idea in regards to Veil-- fiction and art contests revolving around the main characters, with some prizes involved (signed art/sketches, etc). Seems it would be a good way to get people involved and passionate about the characters and the world they live in. Just a thought (others can of course feel free to run with this concept for their own works!)

That's a good idea! In fact, the Crowdsource Tarot is entirely illustrated by fan art. I've seen several other projects with a fan art or fanfic page.
