What was left of the castle's snowfall crunched beneath Irene Adler's boots as she tread through across the grounds. She pulled her heavy coat around her, provided so curiously by the invisible employees of the castle, though Irene was thankful for such small miracles. She had forgone skirts for the comfort of trousers, braces, and a simple blouse, her hat perched carefully on her head to protect her from the bitter wind that blew through the castle grounds.

So this is the future. To be fair, Irene hadn't expected a medieval castle by way of helicopter to be her first time-travelling adventure; but, to be completely fair, Irene had not expected to time travel at all. The wonders of the Orient were one thing; the future was beyond her grasp.

But she also had a mind enough not to doubt Miss Sarah Jane Smith or Marco, at least not without further investigation. After all, what worth is a conclusion without solid proof as to how one arrived at it?

Turning into the maze, Irene paused for a moment to admire the frozen crystals that still clung to the tired leaves of the hedges, smiling to herself.

Adventure was only granted to those who seek it, and Irene was not one to turn away such a splendid gift.
