The morning sun filtered slowly through the thick glass of the conservatory windows. The Doctor had spent the night exploring the castle grounds, and validating Dr. Reid's assumption of an invisible barrier around the perimeter. It was almost as if someone had taken a giant marker and drawn an imaginary line around a random patch of countryside. Testing the boundaries was difficult, and more or less involved skirting a fine division between sickness and health... and a lot of walking. Walking was good though, the sickness was good even, it let him take his mind off other things.

The Doctor paced nervously between the big windows, catching the gardens outside in impatient glances. He mentally scolded himself for allowing his hopes to grow so much over the past few hours after receiving Jenny's message. She was dead. Whoever this was -- whoever was impersonating his daughter was about to regret using Jenny's name as bait for whatever horrible trap awaited him.
