Sally stared at the twisted hunk of destroyed metal and tried to suppress the odd sensation that someone was inside of her chest doing a headlock on her respiratory system. She was dressed in overalls now, the remains of her hair, still frayed at the end from where it had been burnt off, tied into a hasty ponytail, and a wrench in her hand from the shed in the gardens.
This was going to be a delicate operation and she wasn't sure the patient would make it.
Actually, operation wasn't really such a good metaphor. It was more like some voodoo ceremony to resurrect someone from the dead, like on late night cable.
But if she had her way, damnit, this tank would rise again, and hopefully not end up eating someone's brains in the aftermath.
She frowned away the memory of the explosion, and the unhappy thought that it had resulted in her own brains, as well as the heroic Braca's, being splattered all over everywhere. After all, it didn't even make any sense. She was here, in one piece, somehow. Maybe it was all a hallucination, brought on by deadly toxins in the air or sewer system. Or maybe she hadn't known it, but this body had come with some sort of warranty. Either way, it hadn't been a dream, as the Moat Monster appeared to be out of commission entirely, not having resurfaced since.
She wasn't sure exactly why she felt that she had to fix the tank and restore it to its former glory, but she was sure that it would make her feel better. Also it gave her something to concentrate on so that she could ignore the fact that the castle was full of crazy murderers with funny accents, and really hot jerks who acted friendly one minute and then tried to kill you the next.
Humans. Pssh.
