Gene had started poking round the place a bit more after leaving the Doctor behind in the gardens - best to see what sort of situation he'd landed himself in, really, especially with ruddy creatures out of fairy tales running around and murdering people. From time to time, he thought he heard voices echoing in the corridors, but he never found anybody else. It seemed as if the crowd he'd gathered earlier had disappeared into thin air. Which, considering that the lot of them had got on his nerves, wasn't really a bad thing. Maybe the unicorn had skewered a couple Yanks before it died.
...and he was too caught up in his train of thought to notice Owen till it was nearly too late. "Oi!" he cried, narrowly avoiding him. "Watch where you're bloody goin', mate!"
Kaylee waved the driver goodbye, even though the ride over he'd done nothing but ignore her questions about the helicopter. She'd asked about the engine, and when she leaned over to see the controls - the man had simply glared at her until she sat back in her seat and lapsed into silence. Sure enough, the man didn't wave goodbye.
Imagine that. A helicopter - just like the ones of Earth That Was! She'd read about them, but to fly in one! It had nothing on Serenity but still, it had been a welcome distraction. From the worry over the crew. Kaylee watched it fly off into the distance before setting off in the direction of the castle. Serenity, and the others were nowhere to be seen. The ticket said they'd be here...
"S'cuse me! You haven't happened to see a ship round here, would ya?" Kaylee called to the men she could see up ahead of her, picking up her pace to catch up.
Owen turned to this bloke, never one to back away from any sort of argument he glared. "Me? What about you!" He was about to break into a further tirade of curses and insults when he heard another voice. Upon seeing the pretty lady he didn't back down exactly but he wasn't exactly going to pass up a chance to hit on her. This bloke or anything else wasn't going to stop him.
"Ship? Depends what sort you're looking for!" It didn't matter that he hadn't a clue.
Gene glowered at the two of them. Obviously the bird was a bit thick - pretty, but definitely thick, if she was looking for a ship around here. "Ship? What th' hell are you on about? We're in the middle of the sodding countryside, love, y'aren't goin' t' find any ships here."
