Who opened, however, was not Giles, or Willow or any other of Buffy's friends. No, the one who opened was a little boy, his skin frail around blue distant looking eyes. His face was framed by pale blond hair, dressed in a black metal shirt which looked completly out of place on him. If she knew anything about history, she would recognice Alexei Nicolai Romanov, young son of the former Tsar Nicolai Romanov. Both shot dead in 1918 Russia.
Now, however, the carrying nobility was gone. Infront of her stood a boy which seemed humble, careful as if speaking loud or playing would be a grave offence, blinking a bit. "No secret password." he said, his accent distinctivly Russian. He gazed at her with eyes which seemed to be not quite there.
If the skin wasn't a dead give away the way the boy spoke and dressed would have been. Buffy was the slayer after all, or one of many now and it was her job to spot a vampire right away. She could still remember that time Giles gave her the speech about that in the Broonze and made her pick out the vampire. That was the night that it all started for Buffy in Sunnydale.
Of course with all her years she had learned that not all vampires or demons may be bad, just most of them and usually when they aren't its a trick. Still Buffy would wait awhile before saying or doing anything. She hoped that this boy being here had nothing to do with Giles not showing up.
Buffy walked in and looked over the boy. He did look a bit familiar, but school was never Buffy's area of expertise, she was lucky to even pass. If she saw a picture or heard the families name then she would know who he was.
"This your castle then? Don't you think you should be a bit more careful on who you invite in?"
Alexei blinked and continued looking at her for a long while. "No." he said timidly. "There are many here. Many more then me. I just happened to be close when you knocked. Most just walk straight in." He smiled a bit. "I am Alexei." he stepped aside to let her in. "What is your name?" he said carefully.
Why did vampires have to be so creepy sometimes? With their long stares and slow talk and well, this one was so young. She felt bad for him.
"Many here? What some sort of a conference?" Maybe that's why Giles needed her here. "Buffy, someone I know invited me here. There has to be an owner?" This place was already giving her bad feeling and it wasn't just because a vampire opened the door.
