With the lights out and the water not running, there was little to do other than read the books she'd brought, and explore the area. Easy enough to do when it was daylight, and the sunlight filtered into the castle, but impossible at night unless the moon was out.

Swimming, however, wasn't impossible, and after the fire, and watching the moat for a couple of days to make sure it didn't look like there would be trouble, Maris decided to make the most of the lack of light after the sun set, and go for a swim in the moat. Leaving a towel and a pair of jeans on the bank, she slipped into the water, pushing away easily.

Diving into the water, and simply holding her breath for now - no need to have anyone come along and wonder about the towel and jeans while she stayed under. Coming up briefly for air before diving for the bottom, exploring in the dark much as she might at home while swimming in the ocean.

loke, maris newell, hyacinthus
