Jack had checked in with both Gwen and Tony, made the noble decision not to go and tease the Master, and had then found himself approached by one of the really rather gorgeous nurses and asked to follow her, please. Never one to turn down the chance to ogle such a delectable ass, he'd done so with pleasure, only to have the nurse, to his disappointment, gesture him inside the room whilst remaining outside. Shrugging, he gave her a wink and a suggestive, "See you later, perhaps?" before turning to look at where she'd taken him ( ... )

"Fair enough," Jack said, as reasonably as he could, but it came out rather coldly. He knew that travelling with the Doctor was not for everyone, but for someone to have had that choice and left voluntarily, while he'd been abandoned and left to wait 150 long years to see the Doctor again... He wasn't bitter any more but it still hurt sometimes.

He smiled ruefully. "Sorry. I'm glad you had a home and a life to go back to. Not everyone does." He shrugged, and jerked his head towards the little kitchen in the centre of the room. "Look, would you like to get a coffee or something? I know I could do with one."

The move would also take them a little nearer to the Doctor and Isaack. That conversation was looking increasingly heated and Jack wanted - well, what he wanted was rather conflicted, but he definitely wanted to know what was going on.

Harry nodded. "That sounds like a good idea." He had been doing his best not to listen in to any other conversations, even ones where the participants had raised voices. It would just be rude to eavesdrop, even if they were in the same room.

"I know many people think that travelling with the Doctor is an exciting adventure, and I suppose it is," he conceded. "But there is only so much danger one can take before it all gets a little too exciting, if you get my drift."

Upon investigating the kitchen he found it had tea as well as coffee. Considering they were in the future it was all remarkably like the present. Except for everything being white.

Jack shook his head, still smiling ruefully. "I get your drift, but it's not me at all."

He cast another concerned glance towards the Doctor and Isaack, before headed determinedly for the coffee machine. "Ahhh, the proper stuff at last. Now all I need is my Ianto to make up my cup as on he knows how and my life will be complete."

"Oh, I'm sure I'm boring in comparison to other people the Doctor's travelled with." Sarah had said it once, although she had done it just get a rise out of him.

Harry got himself a cup of tea, wondering who Ianto was. He hadn't decided whether or not to ask when an alarm went off. He managed not to drop his mug as the men, who were presumably doctors, explained what was going on.

"I rather hope none of us is still infectious," he said. He hadn't been ill and would much prefer it to stay that way, especially if he was going to be stuck in here. Since he didn't know a great deal about this 'virus' as they were calling it he couldn't tell if they were being overly cautious about quarantining everyone in the room.

"There's a place for everyone in this world, Harry," Jack said, shaking his head gently.

Then he almost dropped his coffee as everything in the room changed. He watched, his heart in his mouth, as they were trapped inside the room, and a disembodied voice told them the score. His gaze flitted around the room as the list of names was read out, automatically placing those he knew and trying to identify some of those he didn't. Amy Pond was easy to identify, since she was the only female he didn't know - though he had no idea who she was - but the rest were more difficult. It was good to know that there was at least one other doctor there though. One less person likely to panic.

"I really hope none of us is still infectious," he agreed with Harry, rather absently. "Especially if the virus is really as dangerous as these procedures indicate."

"I don't have my medical bag with me, so I can't tell if anyone is ill, or do anything if they are." Not that he could do anything to cure this plague, but he hated having to stand by and do nothing when there was someone who needed help. "I suppose there's no use worrying about it. There's nothing we can do to change the situation now." Harry had a sip of his tea.

"Still, I'm sure you'll be more useful than someone who isn't a doctor, if anyone does turn out to be ill," Jack murmured, taking another long sip of his coffee whilst his gaze was still roaming around the room. There were already a number of what appeared to be rather heated conversations going on - not surprisingly, really, considering what had just happened. But he knew how important it was that they all keep calm. The last thing they needed when locked into a room together was for violence to break out.

He chewed on his lower lip for a moment, then came to a decision.

"I need to talk to the Doctor," he said abruptly, and set off across the room to brave Isaack, because the Doctor had seemed to know the most about this hospital - in fact, the Doctor was the one who'd suggested they come here in the first place. There was at least a chance he knew something useful.

((OOC: Feel free to have Harry follow. Jack's just itching to *do* something!))

Harry nodded and let Harkness go. He didn't know what was going on between the Doctor and the other man he was talking to and wasn't sure if the best thing to do was to get involved as well. So he carried on drinking his tea while keeping an eye on them.

ooc: Doubtless Harry will, I'll just let a few more tags go by first - I want him to do something, but he's quite happy and relaxed to sit in there and do nothing for a week :)
