Though she'd died and resurrected in the brutal cold of winter, it seemed that one day the heavens opened up and poured sun on the place. As if an almost unnatural thaw had struck the lands of the castle, Spring came fast and quick. Cordelia found it to be a relief, helping her to shake off the memories of a very fated winter ( ... )

Archie was unaware of Cordelia's presence, a sure sign his guard was down. He didn't even bother to think of how idiotic that could prove in a place like this.

Mind wandering, Kennedy paced himself with short, childlike steps. How many times just this week had he circumvented the large pond? More than enough to know that he was coming up on a particularly muddy piece of shoreline. Stepping to avoid dirtying his boots, Archie bent down and plucked up some grass, immediately sprinkling it liberally over the muddy patch. It was just something to do with his hands -- a cast off action that he'd repeated so many times in his youth.

Another minute or so passed, and the man moved on. At a sandy bar near the shore, he crouched and reached out to touch the dark water, his fingertips trailing ripples over the surface. It was black and dark and deep and if it were a little warmer, he thought he would have liked to swim in it. It wasn't the ocean, but at least it was water.

Creeping around silently was hardly a trait of Cordelia's. At best, she managed to remain quiet because of her inherent grace from cheerleading times. Those times were long past though, and Cordy found that if she wanted to get by in life you wanted to be armed. She'd made this walk equipped with a cross bow in her backpack and several stakes in various zippered pockets on the bag.

When the strange figure had his back to her, crouching and focused on something in the water, she stood to take her aim. She didn't first, instead giving whoever it was a chance to declare their identity before being shot.

"Hey!! YOU!! Turn around and slowly, or else!"

She tried to make her voice big and booming but it still resonated in the trees in that girly tone Cordy's voice always had. If Archie were to stand and turn slowly as ordered, he'd see Cordelia's familiar face with a very distrustful frown upon it. Apparently she wasn't taking any chances at the castle these days.

Oh, great. Threatened from behind. Again. Kennedy was immediately reminded of his brief meeting with Jo in the woods weeks earlier. A stab of guilt hit him, though he couldn't rightly place why. Jo hadn't exactly welcomed him with open arms. But then, he'd been a little harsh, hadn't he? Everyone at that castle was due the right to be worrisome and paranoid.

Feeling like history was repeating itself, Archie lifted his hands into the prone and submissive position aloft and stood to his full, not-so-formidable height. "Turning slowly, or else," he confirmed, pivoting at the water's edge.

He was surprised, then, to see the lovely Cordelia Chase, face twisted with the effort of trying to sound big and tough. Whether she sounded it, or not, made no difference to Archie: He knew she was tough ( ... )
