Faith was itching, she was right now, contents under pressure, she needed to walk, to clear her head.
She hadn't any path in mind, she was meandering around the hallways, looking for nothing and everything. About then she noticed the girl.
"Dude," she said a bit loudly, Faith shook her head, "Miss, are you okay?" There was something about her body language what made her concerned. After all she was suppose to protect.
"I'm fine, thank you, just a little misplaced." Maris turned to look at the woman who'd spoken, her polite smile a little frayed at the edges. "You wouldn't happen to know if there's a phone line in this place that gets an outside line? Or simply where, precisely, this place is, geographically speaking?"
She really wanted to get a hold of her doctor, and figure out how to get to that medical conference the note had asked her to attend. Or at least, find out if it had all been a hoax, and she had just let herself be kidnapped.
Smiling Faith listened to the girl. Watching her, Faith thought of an Angel, when she looked at the woman standing before her.
"I'm with ya in that boat, the misplaced one." Faith laughed softly as she spoke, that was certain something that would happen to the rogue slayer.
"I don't know," Faith answered honestly, "I just found my friend, I gotta ticket makin' me think she was in trouble. As far as I can tell, we're trapped. I've scouted the grounds, forest isn't safe. Phone? Yeah, been there done that."
Giving a shrug, Faith continued, "Sorry, I can't give ya, more. I'm Faith. I'm kinda strong into that protect the innocent deal, so if ya need me just dial 5.5.
"Be careful everythin' around here isn't ... shiny."
"A ticket? All I got was a note from my doctor." Maris shook her head, though she had a sinking feeling that perhaps the man she'd helped might not have been quite as delusional as she'd first thought. At least, not when Faith appeared to think the same thing, and she certainly didn't give Maris the impression she was delusional or simply insane. "I take it she didn't send it, though, if the message that brought you here was entirely different."
She took a deep breath, closing her eyes a moment. "I don't understand. Why kidnap me? I'm just a bartender." With nanites in every tissue of her body, save her brain, and the idea that someone might be after them made her blood run cold. "I don't even like to get involved in anything beyond my job and my hobbies."
Shaking her head, Maris closed her eyes a moment. "I'm sorry, I don't mean to rant at you. I'm Maris Newell." She held out her hand after juggling her dry cleaning around to free one. "A pleasure to meet you, Faith."
Maris relaxed a little bit at Faith's change of mind. "I think we'll be good with just two. And don't undersell yourself, you've got intelligence under there, just as much as anyone." She paused, silent a moment. "You don't need a degree to tell you you're smart," she added, quieter, before drawing a deep breath, and nodding her head toward the door.
"You still want to go grab those weapons before we see what this time room has to offer?"
Faith turned to face Maris. "Thanks," it was all Faith could offer. When she'd said she was a lone wolf that was truth. She left out the horny, sex-loving bit, but as she'd matured, the one night stand thing was getting old

Maris had learned the art of small talk over the years tending bars in various places. How to talk a lot without saying much, or revealing anything, even though she preferred to remain invisible and in the background. It wasn't as important in the job she'd had before coming here, but it was easy to slip back into the habit.
She stayed close to Faith, observing and trying to memorize the routes they took rather than worry about other things. When they stopped at a door, she raised an eyebrow at Faith's surety, but reached out to open the door anyway.
Her eyes widened a moment at the decoration in the room, though she controlled her expression quickly, stepping inside, and stepping to the center of the room. Turning on her heel slowly to study the entire room before she did anything. Paintings and blank frames, each with a red button underneath, a few statues that didn't look like much at all.
"How did those who've mentioned this room say it worked?"
